Getting Help in Eating Disorder Recovery

Eating Disorder Recovery

What's the best help for me? Who will save me from slowly dying due to an eating disorder? These were some of the questions I asked myself when I was oh so desperate to be recovered. However, holding onto these questions kept me more stuck. The mindset shift I made might surprise you!

No doctor can fix your issues. No nutritionist can know exactly how much you need to eat. Not even the world’s BEST therapist can solve your problems. Only you can heal yourself. We spend so much time looking for answers outside of ourselves; visiting dozens of doctors in hopes of receiving the magical diagnosis that gives us all the answers, spending hours googling different diets to fix our gut issues, spending hours in a row calling insurance companies, begging them to cover this new ‘evidence based’ treatment approach that often ends in paying an actual visit to the specialist who then says your problems are ‘too complex’ and you’re better off going somewhere else. I’ve had my fair share of all of these, so trust me, I know!

It wasn’t until I realized that the only mind who knows my problems best, is my own. The only body who knows my nutritional needs, is my own. The only soul who knows what I truly desire, is my own. When you’ve been out of touch with your body and its cues for years, it can seem impossible to ever come up with the answers you’re now so desperate for...but what’s even more impossible, is for an external source to provide those. Of course, specialists can be a part of your recovery! In fact, I encourage it. I wouldn’t be where I am now if it weren’t for all the help I’ve received. But that’s all it is: HELP. They didn’t do the work for me, I did. They held my hand when times got rough, encouraged me when the last bites got hard, sat down and talked me through when the urges surfaced too high. But the one who actually took the steps (and tripped and fell several times!), was me.

I ate the food, took the rest, did the mental work. I walked the path that led me to where I am today. And to be where you want to be, you’re going to have to take the steps on your own path. I’d love to be the one to hold your hand, listen to you, talk you through it when times get rough—because I know how important it is to have someone who GETS IT. That’s why I created my 1:1 coaching program; to guide YOU on your journey and motivate you every step of the way! The only criteria I have is that you’re COMMITTED—that commitment is what is going to get you through.
